AWARDS AND HONORS

Faculty and teaching assistants honored for excellence in teaching

Among the many awards and honors Princeton engineers receive, one of the most appreciated is the Excellence in Teaching Award from the from the undergraduate and graduate engineering councils. These awards, given each semester, are based entirely in nominations and letters of support from students. Potential recipients include nonengineering faculty members who teach courses taken by many engineers, such as math and physics.

At the spring 2008 ceremony, held April 24 at the Friend Center Convocation Room, the Engineering Councils honored three faculty members and two graduate student teaching assistants.

The faculty winners were:
Adrian Banner, lecturer in mathematics, for MAT201 "Multivariable Calculus"
Erhan Cinlar, the Norman Sollenberger Professor in Engineering. Professor of Operations Research and Financial Engineering, for ORF309, "Probability and Stochastic Systems"
Sankaran Sundaresan, professor of chemical engineering, for CHE341, "Mass, Momentum, and Energy Transport"

The graduate student winners were:
Peter Norgaard, for MAE303, "Mathematics Methods for Engineering Analysis"
Iyla Ryzhov, for ORF309, "Probability and Stochastic Systems"
