of excellence:
* A 2003 Clarion Award from the Association for Women in
Communications for best external, nonprofit newsletter, and
* two APEX 2003 Awards recognizing publication excellence
for newsletter writing and feature series writing.
This brings the total number of awards received by the
EQuad News so far this year to eight.

Communications Ann Haver-Allen, Communications Assistant
Sara Peters, copy editor Alicia G. Brzycki,
photographer Frank Wojciechowski, and writers Steve
Schultz, Peter Page, and David Barry.
Clarion Award
The Clarion Awards trumpet clear, concise communications
and are widely recognized as a hallmark achievement. Only
one award is presented in each category, and winners are recognized
as outstanding communicators.
These awards are judged based on the publication's synopsis
of goals and objectives, target audience, editorial strategy,
and budget. Judges review three consecutive issues of the
publication and consider how well the defined communications
plan is executed.
The fall 2002, winter 2002-'03, and spring 2003 issues of
EQuad News constitute the winning entry.
The Clarion Awards were presented at the annual conference
of the Association for Women in Communications.
APEX Awards
The APEX award for excellence in newsletter writing recognizes
the fall 2002 issue of EQuad News, which is online
at www.princeton.edu/
~seasweb/eqnews/fall02/index.html. The APEX award for
feature series writing recognizes the work of Ms. Peters for
her series titled "Introducing young minds to ubiquity
of engineering," which appeared in the winter 2002-'03
issue and is online at www.princeton.edu/~seasweb/eqnews/winter02-03/feature2.html.
Sponsored by Communications Concepts Inc., the APEX 2003
Awards for Publication Excellence recognize excellence in
publications work by professional communicators. The awards
are based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content,
and the ability to achieve overall communications excellence.
