The School of Engineering and Applied Science is composed of six academic departments, one
interdepartmental institute and a range of centers and programs that bring together people with a
wide variety of expertise and interests.
Faculty members and students in engineering work closely not only with members of their own
departments but with scientists and scholars across the University and around the world. The
Princeton Institute for the Science and Technology of Materials (PRISM), for example, combines
an extraordinary breadth of research, from theoretical physics and chemistry to applied experimentation
conducted in partnership with industry. Princeton’s is one of the few engineering schools to have joint
programs with architecture and music and is a recognized leader in addressing the public policy aspects
of information technology.
